We are working with an established System Integrator company based in Doncaster, UK.
They are recruiting for a Controls and Commissioning Engineer to join their team. In return for a salary in the region £38.000 - £45.000 along with excellent employment benefits.
Our Client is looking for a Controls & Commissioning Engineer to join their team.
They design and build industrial equipment/ conveyor systems and carry out installation and upgrade work on customer sites.
This is a hands-on role covering everything from build/ testing in the workshop through to commissioning on site.
This is not a “software only” role - you’ll be expected to get stuck in and help ensure projects are finished, tested and shipped on time, then follow the equipment out to site for installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities include:

Siemens PLC programming in TIA Portal and Step 7 (mainly Siemens, very rare Allen Bradley)

HMI development (WinCC / WinCC Unified – depending on project)

Networking and signal exchange configurations (TCP-on-ISO, TCP, DP/DP, S7 communication)

Drive communication (PPO3)
-
Workshop support: wiring systems up for testing/ FAT, checking I/O, drives, sensors, safety circuits, and helping push projects to completion ready for shipping

Factory testing/ panel testing/ FAT support before equipment ships
-
Commissioning and fault finding on customer sites (UK)
-
Supporting electrical build as required (Danfoss FC302 Profinet/ Profibus, Siemens G120, Allen Bradley Powerflex 525)

Installation support on site as needed - cable pulling, connecting/ terminations, basket tray/trunking support, and general fitment assistance (mechanical/ electrical)

Strong mechanical background - able to carry out/ support mechanical adjustments as needed on site (including drilling and minor fitment work where required)

General all-round problem solving on site as required (as the controls/ software engineer is usually the last person left on site for us)

Working from drawings/ schematics and producing clear test/commissioning notes

Supporting improvements and small upgrades/software tweaks during upgrades
Requirements:
-
Strong Siemens TIA Portal experience (must have)
-
Comfortable commissioning and fault-finding on live production environments
-
Good understanding of industrial control systems (I/O, drives, sensors, safety, networks)

Strong mechanical background and happy to get hands-on with mechanical adjustments when required

Reliable, consistent, good attitude - someone who takes ownership and sees jobs through

Able to work independently but also support the wider team when needed

WinCC / WinCC Unified experience
-
Profinet / network setup and troubleshooting
-
Experience in conveyors/material handling or similar industrial machinery
-
Driving licence
-
Passport
